Statement: Water Quality Bill Lacks Sufficient Funding and Oversight

URBANDALE, Iowa (January 23, 2018) -- Richard Dedor, the Independent candidate for Iowa House District 19, issued the following statement about the passage of SF 512 today in the Iowa House.

"Our elected representative today voted to pass SF 512, a water quality bill which will provide an estimated $282 million over the next 12 years. Not only was this bill passed along nearly partisan lines, it failed on two key measures: funding and oversight. This bill takes money from other sources rather than providing new dedicated and protected resources for water quality and does not provide the mechanisms for measurement and oversight. While this looks like a win, we need elected officials who care more about doing what is right and listening to voters, rather than scoring a win for the fall campaign."
