URBANDALE, Iowa (May 30, 2017) -- Richard Dedor is announcing his campaign for Iowa House today. Dedor plans to run as an Independent for House District 19, which includes Dallas Center, Adel, Redfield, Van Meter, Polk City, Dexter, De Soto and Urbandale (Dallas County).
Dedor knows he must reach voters where and when it’s convenient for them, including online. There’s no need to get dressed up or leave the house, instead Iowans can hear Dedor’s announcement and ask their questions from the comfort of their own couch with an evening Facebook Live event.
“This campaign is all about the voters. That’s why I’ve opted to run as an independent. I don’t want party affiliations to get in the way of the opportunity we have to create a government that works for all the people.”
The Iowa Secretary of State reports 38 percent of the district’s voters are independent, and Dedor knows they’ve got passion for issues that straddle both sides of the aisle.
“I’m ready to tackle the tough topics of education, water quality, wind energy and the economy. But, more importantly, I want to hear from voters in my district about their vision for Iowa. Their priorities are my priorities. Our campaign invites ideas and welcomes debates.”
If elected, this will be Dedor’s first time serving in the statehouse, but he has known the importance of service his entire life. He has humbly served with Habitat for Humanity, the Trevor Project, and currently serves on the Central Iowa Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors and on the Iowa Advisory Council for the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.
We invite everyone to take part in Dedor’s announcement Wednesday, May 31 at 7:35 p.m., at http://www.facebook.com/richard.m.dedor. During his announcement, he’ll unveil another way he’s reaching out to voters.
