Op Ed: We have to stop letting party labels keep us from moving Iowa forward

Back in May, I wrote about our state needing a “shared vision” free of party affiliation and special interest fingerprints. The future of our state is not a Republican thing or a Democrat thing. It’s an us thing, and it is time we come together and state once and for all what we desire our state to be. It’s time we create a shared document of priorities on how to make our state better. We could call it “A Better Iowa.”

I have watched over the past few years as politicians have chosen to play politics with our most pressing issues. But if we all stood up and said, “Enough!” we could retake our political system.
