FOCUS: Attitude! (v1n45)

This Week’s Lesson
Attitudes are contagious! Is yours worth catching?
-Mackenzie M’s life lesson from Minneapolis, Kansas

Richard’s Thoughts…
This week’s lesson comes from Mackenzie and hits the nail right on the head. Last week I was sick with yet another head-cold and spent most of Sunday on the couch. But in that sickness, I found energy. While I hate taking time off, the cold told me I needed to slow down and reassess my energy usage. That is a fancy way of saying that I need to check my priorities.

Since then, I am back to painting and reading and while I have a ton of things on my list, my attitude is back in check. Our attitude is one of the few things we can control in our day. We can’t control if our car breaks down or if someone turns in a report late; but we can control our reaction.

Attitudes, good and bad can make and break someone’s day. So, please, for the sake of those around you, be sure to check yours at the door this week. Take a deep breath, exhale, and make sure your attitude is one of positive energy so that others will be excited to catch it!

Where Do You Find Inspiration?

from-kansas-to-iowa-summer-2008-2422This one is the toughest one for me to answer. Obviously Denver would be near the top of my list. For as long as I am alive, Denver and the mountains will not only be a place of peace but also a place of inspiration. I know I will continue to return.

I’m also inspired when I am in front of an audience. I love sharing my passion with others and my main ways of doing that is through this blog, my presentations and soon, my book!

For me, my place of inspiration is when I am with people I care about. I am inspired by their stories and their personal passions. It goes back to who inspires me, it’s also when I am with people that I am most inspired.

Where do you find inspiration?

When Are You Inspired?

rockies-2008-2590I could answer this based on a time of day, or take the easy way out and say that I am most inspired when I am in Denver, Colo. That would be my choice.

However, I believe I am most inspired when I am laughing. From my personal experience, I believe laughing is medicine for the soul. Enjoying life erodes your internal censors and allows you to start to be inspired by all the things around you.

Laughing also means that I am enjoying life and enjoying the small moments around me and that in turn allows me to enjoy everything else in life.

You know what I’m going to ask… When are you most inspired? More importantly, when are you going to experience that again?

What Inspires You?

cfsunriseMy life has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, but that’s the joy in the journey. There are a lot of things that offer inspiration for me. I’ve always been uplifted by birds chirping, by anything athletic, by reading a good book and by watching squirrels.

Above all, there is one thing that stands out above the rest. It is a constant reminder, for me at least, that life exists and it’s wonderful. For me, the biggest thing that offers inspiration is the sun. That ever constant glowing during the daylight and the moon reflecting the sun back to us at the end of a long day.

There have been many moments in my life where I have been really down on myself and life, and letting the sun hit my face has hit me in my heart and re-inspired me.

What about you? What in this world inspires you?
