Jamrock Customer Service

Coffee for Jamrock!

My friend Justin Brady, who runs the blog Critically Acclaimed posted this photo awhile back. I immediately saved it because I knew I wanted to share it. I forget the exact story behind why the Starbucks Barista wrote “Jamrock” on his cup that morning, but it says something about really good customer service.

Good customer service is about getting orders right. Good customer service is about offering quick service. Good customer service is about making me smile. And really good customer service is about knowing who I am … especially if I come in more than a few times.

This barista obviously knew who Justin was and wanted to have a little fun. And that little fun caused a photo to be sent to Facebook, and for me to save it and share it with you. That is the power, the easy, simple, and free power of great customer service. And it took what, two seconds, no money and just a smile and good humor?

In your life and business, where can you improve your customer service in simple ways? Take this thought before you think about your business. Recently Expedia.com made a slight change to their order form. Their research showed that many customers would click “buy now” and would end up not finishing their purchase. They got rid of one input box that was causing confusing, which resulted in over $12 million in additional sales. Simple.

So I ask again: What simple change can you make?
